Megaloceros (Irish Elk)


The Irish Elk is the largest deer ancestor that ever lived, and roamed a glacial Eurasia during the Pleistocene Epoch. The type specimen was first scientifically described in Dublin in 1695, but wasn't formally named Alce gigantea until 1799.
